Cats Compete in Four Championship Matches on Sunday

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Wildcats placed two singles players and two doubles pairs in the championship matches in the final day of their home tournament. No. 35 Gustaf Strom and junior Hiroki Sakagawa will play in their first championship match of the season, while both doubles pairs for the Cats will compete for their respective championships.

Strom came out swinging on the second day of the tournament, defeating his opponent in straight sets to take him to a championship match against NMSU's Louis Menard. In doubles, Strom and his partner Conner Olsen cruised through the semifinals with a 6-3 win over Schaefer and Sulen from Northern Arizona.

Sakagawa dominated his singles match for the second day in a row, winning in straight sets to push his way to the finals. The junior will take on Leon Roider from Gonzaga in the hampionship match. In doubles, he and his partner Jared Horwood outlasted Andersson and Roider from Gonzaga to win 7-5.
