Wildcats Send Eight Players to ITA All-American Championship

TULSA, Okla. - The Men's Tennis team is sending eight of its members to the 2021 ITA All-American Championships. The tournament will take place over the next week with pre-qualifying, qualifying, and main draw matches.

For pre-qualifying, the Cats have junior Nick Lagaev, senior Carlos Hassey, and sophomore Herman Hoeyeraal. The three Wildcats will start their matches on Saturday, Oct. 2 to earn the chance to make it to the qualifying draw.

Oct. 2 Schedule

  • 7 a.m. MST Nick Lagaev vs. Brandon Perez (NEB)
  • Noon MST Carlos Hassey vs. Simon Labbe (UTC)
  • 12:30 p.m. MST Herman Hoeyeraal vs. Oliver Johansson (DRAKE)

On Monday, Oct. 4, the Cats will start qualifying, where freshman Colton Smith, senior Filip Malbasic, and sophomore Jett Middleton will start their tournament, along with any other player that makes it from pre-qualifying. The final segment of the ITA All-American Championships will be the main draw that will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 6. No. 35 Gustaf Strom and No. 32 Jonas Ziverts will get their first action in the main draw, along with any Wildcat that conquers the qualifying bracket.
