Barry Paces OSU On First Day In South Bend

Oct 4, 2021

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Carson Barry is 2-under par through 36 holes to pace the Oregon State men's golf team on the first of the Fighting Irish Classic at the par-70, 7,023 yard Warren Golf Course. The Beavers enter Tuesday's final day of action tied for eighth place at 9-over par (282-287—569).

"It was a bit frustrating to see the round get away from us this afternoon," head coach Jon Reehoorn said. "The wind picked up and it seemed like we started making unforced errors. With our young group, we just need to learn from our mistakes and keep getting better.

"Just like Gold Mountain a couple weeks ago, our guys will be ready to compete tomorrow."

Barry shot a 4-under 66 to open the day's action, tallying five birdies through the first 18 holes. He ended his day with four in the final 18 as he finished 2-over 72. His nine birdies overall ranks tied for second among the Classic's 80 participants. He will enter the final 18 holes tied for ninth.

Jackson Lake is 2-over par (70-72—142) and comes into Tuesday's action tied for 24th, but just three shots shy of 12th. He picked up five birdies, doing so twice on the par-5 fifth hole.

Brandon Eyre is tied for 31st after 36 holes. He shot a 3-over 73 on the first 18, but managed to get back to par for the final 18. Eyre ended his day with three birdies.

Carson Enright, after competing as an individual in Bremerton, finished with a 6-over 146 on the day. He finished 3-over par in both rounds. Enright picked up six birdies on the day.

Nolan Thoroughgood will enter the final 18 holes in a tie for 56th at 8-over par 148. He shot 5-over 75 in the first round, but dropped down two strokes (73) in the final 18.
