Busleiman Wins Opening Match in Qualifying Draw

TULSA, Okla. – Utah men's tennis team members Franco Capalbo and Geronimo Busleiman began matches today at the ITA All-American Championships.
 
In singles for the Qualifying Draw, Busleiman faced Florida State's Loris Pourroy, who is ranked 85th in the ITA singles rankings. Busleiman took the first set 6-3 before dropping the second set, 6-3. With the match tied at one set apiece, Busleiman bounced back and won the third set 6-2, advancing in the Qualifying Draw.
 
The day continued with the Qualifying Draw for doubles. Here, Utes duo Capalbo/Busleiman battled it out with Washington's Clement Chidekh and Jack Davis. This match was a back and forth as the Utah duo took the first set 6-4. They had a lead in the second set but couldn't hold on and lost the set 6-4. The Huskies duo claimed the tiebreaker 10-8.  
 
Busleiman will continue singles play in the Qualifying Draw tomorrow and will face Thomas Brown from Charlotte. Capalbo will begin singles play on Wednesday in the Main Draw. For the complete draws, click here.
