UCLA in Sixth After Round Two of the Blessings

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The UCLA men's golf team shot a 1-over 289 in round two to remain in 8th place at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday. To par, the Bruins are 6-over 582, and are 17 strokes behind first place and course host Arkansas.
 
Graduate Eddy Lai now leads the team following a 2-under 70 showing in his second round to jump 11 spots, tied for 15th. Lai birdied three times on the par-5 5th, par-3 8th, par-4 9th to shoot a 2-under 34 on the front nine. He later birdied on the par-5 10th.
 
Graduate Devon Bling birdied three times on the front nine on the par-3 3rd, par-5 5th and par-4 6th, and was within striking distance of Arkansas' Luke Long in first place. But a string of five bogeys, including a quadruple bogey on the par-3 13th, put him at 6-over 42 on the back nine. Bling finished the day 3-over 75, tied for 10th place.
 
Freshman Pablo Ereño Perez rose climbed five places to tied for 21st after shooting even par 72 in round two. Ereño Perez birdied four times on the par-4 1st, par-5 2nd, par-4 4th and par-4 9th to go 2-under 34 on the front nine. Senior Bryan Teoh also shot even par 72. His three birdies came on the par-4 1st, par-5 10th and par-5 15th.
 
Sophomore Alvaro Muller Baumgart Lucena rounded out the Bruins' fivesome with four birdies in his final round. After ending the front nine 1-under 35, Lucena bogeyed four times on the back.
 
The Bruins tee off for the final round at the Blessings Golf Club tomorrow morning. The contest will be aired on the Golf Channel beginning at 12 p.m. PT.
