Vandecasteele Advances in ITA Northwest Regional; Secures Spot in Super Regional

EUGENE, Ore. – Luke Vandecasteele battled to a three-set win to advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Thursday. With the win, he is automatically qualified for the Super Regional in Seattle (Oct. 22-25).
 
Vandecasteele defeated Portland's Issa Yoshida 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 to join teammates Joshua Charlton, Jesper Klöv-Nilsson and Quinn Vandecasteele in the Seattle Super Regional. He will play for a spot in the semifinals of the Regional on Friday against Gonzaga's Sasha Trkulja.
 
Earlier in the day, Luke and Ryoma Matsushita advanced to the third round of the doubles draw, beating Portland State (Richards/Jesser) 8-5. The duo will face Portland's Yoshida and Hibi on Friday. Matches get underway at 10:00 a.m. at the Student Tennis Center.
