Domination Over Davis

Oct 17, 2021

STANFORD, Calif. - Suffocating defense and a versatile offense led to a domination by No. 4 Stanford against No. 8 UC Davis on Sunday, as the Cardinal took down the Aggies 13-1.

The win pushes Stanford to 14-3 on the season with five games left in the regular season. The 12-goal victory was Stanford's largest against a top-10 opponent since defeating No. 10 Harvard 21-5 in 2017 and its the fewest goals allowed by the Cardinal against a top-10 opponent since shutting out No. 7 UC Irvine in 2015.

Stanford was lethal in its attack early on, scoring on each of its first three offensive possessions with goals from Tyler Abramson, Larsen Weigle and Beck Jurasius.

The Cardinal's lead swelled to 4-0 before Davis got its only goal of the afternoon in the second period. It didn't take long for Stanford to regain its momentum, scoring back-to-back goals from Jackson Painter and a penalty goal from Troy Gleason.

Another strong period after halftime cemented the blowout for Stanford, while freshman Liam Harrison entered the game in the fourth, earning five saves. Five different players scored two goals for the Cardinal.
