Bears Post 12 Singles Wins Friday At ITA Regionals
STANFORD, Calif. – The California women's tennis team won 12 singles matches on the opening day of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Friday at Stanford's Taube Family Tennis Center, with six Golden Bears advancing to Saturday's round of 32.
The Bears swept their round of 64 matches: Cal freshman Jessica Alsola, seeded fourth, defeated Pacific's Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle, 6-2, 6-1; the seventh-seeded and 106th-ranked Julia Rosenqvist beat Gonzaga's Kianna Oda, 6-0, 6-1; the 12th-seeded Hannah Viller Moeller topped Eastern Washington's Kenzington Mann, 6-0, 6-0; the 13th-seeded Jada Bui defeated Gabriela Tevez of Saint Mary's, 6-3, 6-2; Erin Richardson bested Danielle Zamora, 6-1, 6-3; and Makenna Thiel beat Tsveti Yotova, 6-1, 7-6(3).
Cal won six of seven matches in the opening round of 128.
The ITA regionals continue on Saturday on the Farm.
