Two Doubles Pairs Move On at Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. – Two of Oregon's doubles pairs are moving on to the round of 16 at the ITA Northwest Regional, as Lillian Mould and Ares Teixido Garcia, and Allison Mulville and Sophie Luescher picked up wins Saturday.  
 
How it Happened: The day began with doubles play, with Mould and Teixido Garcia taking a close match in a 7-5 win to move on to round two. Luescher and Mulville advanced after a Stanford pair withdrew, while Misaki Kobayashi and Madisen Olsen dropped a tight match, 7-5.
 
Mould and Teixido Garcia rolled in their second round match, coasting to a 6-1 win against a pair from UC Davis, before Luescher and Mulville won a close battle, 7-5, over a duo from Santa Clara. Uxia Martinez Moral and Myah Petchey, who got to round two after a defaulted match on Friday, fell 6-1 against a pair from USF.
 
Martinez Moral was the lone Oregon player to advance to the round of 16, getting there with a 6-4, 7-5 in the third round before falling 6-3, 6-4. The remaining four Ducks who made it through the opening day of singles play were eliminated in the round of 32, with Luescher in a close match while Petchey put up a good fight against a ranked opponent in a 7-5, 6-2 loss.
