Arizona Beats Eastern New Mexico 84-25 in First Exhibition

TUCSON, Ariz. – After a historic run in the NCAA tournament last spring, Arizona Women's Basketball opened up the 2021-22 season at home against Eastern New Mexico in an exhibition game, winning by a score of 84-25.
 
Junior transfer Taylor Chavez and freshman Madison Conner each matched the game high 12 points, contributing to Arizona's 52 points from off the bench. 
 
The Wildcats were a problem for ENMU defensively, scoring a staggering 44 points off 37 turnovers. Shaina Pellington and Bendu Yeaney each picked up four steals a piece, adding to a team total of 21.
 
The Cats started off strong from behind the three, shooting 42.9% in the first quarter and 80% in the second after going 4-5. Chavez led the way, shooting 4-7 for the game.
 
Cate Reese and senior transfer Ariyah Copeland dominated on the board, combining for 11 rebounds. Arizona also topped ENMU in second chance points by 13-6.
 
Next up, the Cats will face off against Arizona Christian in another exhibition game on November 5th at 6:30 p.m. in McKale Center.
