USC Beach Volleyball Set For Women's Collegiate Fall Challenge

Oct 28, 2021

LOS ANGELES - The defending NCAA champion USC beach volleyball team sees its first fall action at the 2021 Women's Collegiate Fall Challenge this Saturday (Oct. 30) at 1200 Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica, Calif.

The Women of Troy start the day with an early match-up against California at 8 a.m. PT and then meet Long Beach State at 10 a.m. before concluding the three-match day against Loyola Marymount at 1 p.m.

The one-day fall preseason event put on by BVNE (Beach Volleyball National Events) will feature eight of the West Coast's top collegiate programs divided into two pools. The Trojans play out of Pool A. In Pool B, Cal Poly, Pepperdine, Stanford, and UCLA will play a round-robin as well. All matches are scheduled to be played as standard NCAA duals.

USC captured the program's fourth national championship (third NCAA crown) with a win over crosstown rival UCLA in the 2021 NCAA Championship dual. Under second-year head coach Dain Blanton, USC went 30-4 and had winning streaks of 13 and 12 matches during the season. The Trojans finished as the Pac-12 runner-up and produced the league's Pair of the Year in Tina Graudina and Megan Kraft. Graudina was also named Pac-12 Player of the Year and Kraft was the conference's Freshman of the Year. Both were named first-team AVCA All-Americans and were joined on the first team by Julia Scoles and Sammy Slater.
