Men Sixth, Women Eighth at Pac-12 Championships

Salt Lake City, Utah – UCLA Cross Country finished up its first postseason competition of the season Friday, as the men's squad took sixth and the Bruin women finished eighth at the Pac-12 Championships in Salt Lake City. The action was televised live on Pac-12 Network.
 
The Bruin men were led in the 8k by Peter Herold, who finished as UCLA's top runner for the third time this season. The redshirt sophomore finished 27th overall and stayed in the lead pack for much of the first 6k, crossing with a time of 24:56.0. Redshirt junior Darius Riley crossed in 43rd place (25:34.8) and sophomore Ronan McMahon-Staggs followed closely in 47th (25:47.1). True freshman Patrick Curulla was UCLA's fourth runner in his first postseason race, finishing 52nd overall with a time of 25:51.1. Sophomore Jake Parker rounded out the Bruins' scoring five with a 55th-place finish and a time of 26:08.5.
 
Andrew Martinez (59th), Marcus Mota (61st), and Anthony Stone (62nd) finished just outside the team's scoring group. Mason Ratkovich finished in 72nd place.
 
Emma Tavella was the Bruins' top finisher in the women's 6k, taking 36th overall (21:51.7) after moving up 12 spots in the last two kilometers of the race. Mia Kane also had a strong finish in her first postseason race, moving up eight spots in the last 2k to finish 50th overall (22:22.2). Freshman Audrey Allen was UCLA's third runner at 22:27.3 while Carlie Dorostkar took 63rd with a time of 22:53.1. Alyssa Bautista was the Bruins' fifth scorer, finishing in 63rd place with a time of 22:57.2.
 
Claire Selleck (23:43.0), Sophia Hoelzel (23:45.3), and Lavanya Pandey (23:48.8) went 79-80-81 to round out UCLA's lineup.

The Bruins' postseason campaign continues with a trip to Sacramento for the NCAA West Reginal Championships. The meet is set for Friday, Nov. 12 at Haggin Oaks Golf Course.
