Men's Tennis Quartet Wraps at SoCal Intercollegiates
LOS ANGELES – Four members of the UCLA men's tennis team competed over three days at the Southern California Intercollegiate Championships on the campus of USC, with each victorious at least once along the way.
The Bruins only took part in the singles draw. Stefan Leustian increased his team-high win total to eight with two more en route to the quarterfinal round, where he fell to eventual champion Ryder Jackson of USC in three sets.
Jeffrey Fradkin and Blaine Hovenier advanced out of the qualifying draw with straight-set wins over Chapman counterparts Harry Cohen and Kameron DeHart, respectively. Fradkin triumphed again before bowing out to fourth-seeded Liam Krall of SMU in a match that went the distance.
Though Eric Hahn dropped his opener against eventual semifinalist Issa Yoshida of Portland in three sets, he would rebound to beat Diego Castillo of UC Santa Barbara in an extra match.
UCLA completes fall play at the Jack Kramer Collegiate Invitational in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. Action from the Jack Kramer Club starts Friday and continues through Sunday. Bruins Fradkin, Hovenier, Karl Lee and Max Wild are set to participate.
