Beavers Escape With Exhibition Win Over Saint Martin’s

Nov 4, 2021

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Dashawn Davis hit a 3-pointer with 2.0 seconds left to give Oregon State an 83-80 win over Saint Martin's in a Thursday evening exhibition game at Gill Coliseum.

Davis, a transfer from Trinity Valley Community College, got the start and finished with seven points, seven rebounds and seven assists. His biggest play of the night came in the final seconds when he dribbled to the right wing and pulled up from deep for the game-winning triple.

Maurice Calloo scored a team-high 21 points, going 7-for-12 from the field, 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and 4-for-5 from the free throw line.

Warith Alatishe had 14 points and seven rebounds, and newcomer Tre' Williams added 12 points and seven assists. Rodrigue Andela scored all nine of his points in the first half, while true freshman Glenn Taylor Jr. scored all eight of his in the second frame.

The Beavers had 27 assists on their 33 baskets and outscored the Saints 42-24 in the paint.

A very scrappy and well-coached Saint Martin's team built a 14-point first half lead that made Oregon State work from behind the entire game. The Saints went 15-for-30 from deep and outscored the Beavers 12-2 on second chance points.

Alex Schumacher scored a game-high 22 points for Saint Martin's, while Christian Haffner knocked down seven triples for all 21 of his points.

The Beavers open their 2021-22 regular season against Portland State at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at Gill Coliseum. The game will be televised live on Pac-12 Oregon.
