Hoffman Takes Offensive Player Of The Week

Nov 8, 2021

SEATTLE – Fourth-year Husky outside hitter Claire Hoffman was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week today, following another stellar weekend where the Pleasant Hill, Ore. native led Washington to sweeps of Arizona State and Arizona. Hoffman had 15 kills in each match and posted a .400 attack percentage for the weekend.

Washington improved to 18-4 on the season and 11-3 in Pac-12 play, with 11 wins in its past 12 matches. Within that run, Hoffman has averaged 4.13 kills per set and hit .316.

This past weekend she averaged 5.00 kills per set and hit .400. On Friday, the Huskies snapped Arizona State's Pac-12 best five-match win streak, with Hoffman hitting .351 and also serving up a career-high-tying four aces. She then hit .464 against the Wildcats on Sunday, and also tallied a team-best nine digs.

A Second Team All-American in the 2021 spring season, Hoffman has raised her game to a new level this fall. She is averaging a career-high 3.89 kills per set (previous career-high of 3.31 from the spring) and hitting .307 (up from .231 in the spring). She is the only left pin attacker in the Pac-12 hitting over .300 this season.

It's the first Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award for a Husky this season, and the second of Hoffman's career. Her first came all the way back on Nov. 5, 2018 during her freshman season.

The Huskies are currently second in the Pac-12 standings, one game behind UCLA and one game ahead of Washington State with six matches remaining. UW visits 20th-ranked Stanford this Thursday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m.
