Luescher, Petchey Advance in Singles at SDSU Invite

SAN DIEGO – Two Oregon players advanced to the second round of singles play in their respective draws, as Sophie Luescher and Myah Petchey each won on day one of the San Diego State Fall Classic.  
 
How it Happened: After the Ducks dropped their lone doubles match of the day, Luescher and Petchey cruised to straight-set wins in their opening round of singles. Luescher topped Hailey Stelse of Air Force, 6-1, 6-3 to move on to the semifinals of the gold draw.
 
Petchey turned in an easy victory of her own, winning 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals of the black draw. Madisen Olsen dropped her first round singles match, 6-0, 6-2 in the white draw.
