SAN DIEGO/LAS VEGAS - Utah women's tennis has kicked off the weekend at the San Diego State Fall Classic and the Jolene Watanabe Classic at UNLV.

In San Diego, the women's tennis was able to go undefeated in doubles with Linda Huang/ Madison Tattini and Lindsay Hung/ Katya Hersh defeating both UCSD doubles teams of Pachl/Vu and SDSU Doubles team Nadozie/Melosch, respectively, 6-1.

The Utes at SDSU were also able to remain nearly undefeated on their first day of play. Huang defeated Ella Pachil from UCSD in the Singles Gold Draw 6-3, 6-3. Hersh also came out victorious in her tough match against Sofia Lazzaroni of UCR. Hersh lost her first set, 5-7, to Lazzaroni but made a fantastic comeback winning her following two sets 6-3.

"I was happy with how the day went in doubles," stated head coach Ric Mortera. "That was definitely the positive highlight of the day. I was also excited for Katya, who was able to make some great adjustments after the first set to come back and win. We are looking forward to using the lessons we learned today and implementing them for the rest of the weekend."

In Las Vegas, Utah was able to come away with yet another doubles victory with doubles team Samantha Horwood/ Anastasia Goncharova defeating LBSU team Zara Lennon/Zuzanna Szczepanska, 6-3.

The Utes will be back out tomorrow, Nov. 13, at both Classics.
