Utah Dive Bounces Back at Day 2 of Texas Diving Invite

AUSTIN, Texas- Senior Tony Chen and redshirt junior Luke McDivitt bounced back from yesterday's performances earning themselves spots in the 3m final on Friday evening.

"I had a strong feeling that we'd bounce back and have a really good day today and the team didn't disappoint," head coach Richard Marschner said. "I can't overstate how difficult the competition is here and we are proving that we belong with the diving blue bloods. I'm proud of our effort and I am looking forward to finishing with a great platform event."

In the prelims, Chen and McDivitt showcased dives that earned them scores of 353.55 and 348.95, respectively. In the final, Chen placed seventh with a score of 371.60, while McDivitt finished right behind in eighth with a score of 334.20.  

Freshman Ben Smyth scored a collegiate best 306.70 and junior Jenner Pennock tallied 267.45 points.

Junior Lizzy DeCecco lead the women and just missed continuing on to the 1m final Friday evening, finishing 10th with a seasons-best score 264.00. Freshman Holly Waxman placed three spots behind in 13th (253.40).  

Sophomore Hannah Truax scored 215.75 points and junior Lexi Mills earned 214.25 in the 1m.

The Utes will wrap up competition today at the Texas Diving Invitational with the platform events. The day will begin with the women's platform at 9:30 a.m. MT and conclude with the men's platform at 12:25 p.m. MT. Both events can be streamed live on the Longhorn Network.
