WOODLAND, Calif. -- UCLA redshirt senior Evan Rosenfeld (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Harvard-Westlake School) has been named the MPSF/KAP7 Tournament MVP as announced by the league office today. Rosenfeld also joined junior Tommy Gruwell (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS) on the MPSF/KAP7 All-Tournament Team.

Rosenfeld had all-around success to help the third-seeded Bruins win their sixth MPSF Championship (Nov. 18-20). Rosenfeld dished two assists and picked up a steal in the quarterfinal against Penn State Behrend and he followed that up with a steal and a drawn exclusion in the semifinal vs. USC. He then finished with one goal, one assist, and three drawn exclusions in the title game vs. Stanford. Perhaps most impressive was his stout defense in the semifinal, helping limit USC to just five goals (only one in the second half), which included turning away all 11 Trojan power plays.

Gruwell paced the Bruins' offense with eight goals and 12 points (four assists) in UCLA's three victories last weekend. He also drew four exclusions, recorded two steals, and won his only sprint in the 2021 MPSF Championship.

The Bruins host the 2021 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship at Dirks Pool at Spieker Aquatics Center Dec. 2-5. The Bruins will open with the winner of the opening-round game between Princeton and Fordham. UCLA's first game will be on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 3:00 p.m. PST. The winner will advance to the championship bracket to play California (20-4) at UCLA on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 4:00 p.m. PST.
