Big Spike Sweep

BERKELEY, Calif. – No. 18 Stanford hit .418 as a team in a 25-12, 25-16, 25-17 sweep over California, Saturday, in the Big Spike at Haas Pavilion.

The Cardinal (18-10) finishes Pac-12 play at 13-7, tying Oregon and Washington State for fourth place. Stanford improves to 80-12 all-time against Cal (7-24, 0-20 Pac-12).

Outside hitter Caitie Baird led Stanford with 14 kills on .364 hitting to go with seven digs, an ace and a solo block. Opposite Kendall Kipp added 12 kills on a .375 attack percentage, four digs, three blocks and an ace.

Freshman setter Kami Miner controlled the offense with 37 assists and racked up 13 digs for her team-best ninth double-double of the season. Sophomore libero Elena Oglivie chipped in with eight assists and had a team-high 14 digs and two aces.

Senior middle blocker Holly Campbell had seven kills on 10 swings with just one error to hit .600. The Austin, Texas, native also tallied three blocks. Redshirt sophomore middle blocker chipped in with four kills and two blocks.

Outside hitter Sami Francis hit .421, finishing with nine kills. The freshman was on fire in the third set, registering six kills and two blocks in the final frame.

Freshman defensive specialist Taylor Beaven had three digs and an assist for the Cardinal, while junior Natalie Berty came off the bench to serve for Campbell and recorded three digs and a pair of aces. Sophomore Annabelle Smith made her season debut, going 2-for-2 offensively.

Prior to the match, Cal celebrated its five seniors. Lydia Grote and Bella Bergmark led the Golden Bears with eight kills apiece. Libero Tara DeSa had a match-high 16 digs to anchor the Cal defense.
