UCLA Earns No. 13 Seed in NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA women's volleyball team (23-5, 16-4 Pac-12) earned a No. 13 seed in the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament and will host Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champions Fairfield (24-8, 16-2 MAAC) in the first round on Friday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. PT at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.
 
The winner of the UCLA-Fairfield match will advance to the second round to face the winner of Pepperdine (22-5, 14-4 WCC) vs. UCF (26-6, 19-1 AAC). In the other half of the quadrant are Big 10 Champion No. 4 seed Wisconsin, Texas Tech, Florida Gulf Coast and Colgate.
 
This is UCLA's 38th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have a 92-34 all-time NCAA record and have won four NCAA National Championships.
 
The NCAA Tournament is returning to its 64-team format that was abbreviated in the Spring 2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Friday will mark the first ever meeting between the Bruins and Stags. UCLA's last NCAA victory in the Spring 2021 season came against MAAC champion Rider, 3-0. The Bruins are 3-0 all-time and have not dropped a set to MAAC opponents.
 
The Bruins finished the regular season second in the Pac-12 behind the Washington Huskies with a 16-4 record. May leads the Bruins and ranks second in the Pac-12 with 4.76 kills per set. Reigning Pac-12 Libero of the Year Zoe Fleck is averaging a UCLA-best 3.74 digs per set.
 
Fairfield enters the postseason on a four-match winning streak, most recently defeating defending MAAC champion Rider in straight sets for the conference title. The Stags are led by junior KJ Johnson who is averaging 4.82 kills per set. Setter Nicolini Manuela finished the regular season averaging 11.11 assists per set.
