Men's Hoops Falls at Cal; at UCLA Wednesday

California jumped out to a 41-23 halftime lead and topped Arizona State 74-50 Sunday afternoon at Haas Pavilion in a game that was moved up from Jan. 19 with both teams having games canceled due opponent COVID protocols.
 
Cal (9-5; 2-1) jumped out to leads of 9-2, 25-12 and 41-21 as ASU (5-8; 1-2) shot 9-of-27 (.333) in the first half and the Bears were 15-of-30 (.500). ASU was without leading shot-blocker Alonzo Gaffney who was ill.
 
DJ Horne led ASU with 17 points, while Enoch Boakye matched season highs with nine points and had career-best nine rebounds.
 
JAY HEATH FIRST ASU START
Jay Heath made his first start as a Sun Devil after starting 49 of 50 games at Boston College in two years.
 
SCHEDULE UPDATE
ASU had its Los Angeles trip (Dec. 30-Jan. 1) postponed due to COVID protocols at USC and UCLA, so the Sun Devils played moved this Jan. 19 game at Cal to today. ASU will play at UCLA on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 7:30 p.m. PT on FS1.

The Sun Devils had won seven straight versus the Bears and are now 6-3 in their last eight trips to Berkeley...ASU had won 12 of the past 16 and four straight in Berkeley.
