Wrestling Sweeps Little Rock

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State wrestlers won all 10 matches in a 34-0 victory over Little Rock Friday night at Gill Coliseum.
 
Oregon State is now 3-0 all-time against the Trojans, also winning 42-0 in 2020 and 33-9 last season. On Friday, the Beavers pushed to the win thanks to a technical fall from Trey Munoz, major decisions from Brandon Kaylor and Devan Turner and seven decisions.
 
The highlight of the night belonged to Gary Traub, who won 11-6 over Josiah Hill. The heavyweight match went to a third overtime deadlocked at 6. Traub proceeded to score 5 points in the final frame to extend his winning streak to 13.
 
Kaylor and Turner also extended win streaks in the victory. Kaylor took down Jayden Carson, 12-4, at 125, pushing his to nine. Turner's 12-2 win over Jaylen Carson marked his eight consecutive victory. It was also the 78th win of his collegiate career.
 
The most points on the night went to Trey Munoz, who improved to 11-2 this season with a 25-10 technical fall over Tanner Mendoza. Munoz was making his Beaver debut at Gill Coliseum.
 
The Beavers won their first three bouts via decisions. Hunter Willits opened the night at 157 pounds, defeating Chase Tebbets, 7-2. Matthew Olguin defeated Tyler Brennan, 6-1, at 165 pounds, while Mateo Olmos downed Triston Willis, 8-5, at 174 to push OSU's lead to 9-0.
 
Ryan Reyes improved to 7-4 this year with a 16-14 decision over Brooks Sacharczyk, while was followed by Traub's marathon win at heavyweight.
 
Grant Willits made it 31-0 in favor of OSU with a 10-3 victory at 141 pounds. Cory Crooks completed the Beavers' sweep with a 3-1 win over Joseph Bianchi at 149 pounds.

Oregon State returns to action in a pair of meets next weekend. The Beavers visit Northern Colorado Friday, Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. PT. That's followed the next day with a match at Wyoming in a 1 p.m. start.
