Jan 21, 2022

STANFORD, Calif. — Stanford beach volleyball released its schedule today, highlighted by 12 home contests and 11 matches televised on the Pac-12 Networks.

The Cardinal spends the first five weeks of its 2022 season on the road, opening the season at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic in Waikiki, Hawai'i. In the Aloha State, Stanford will take on conference opponent UCLA as well as host Hawai'i and Saint Mary's (California).

"We are ecstatic to be competing at so many wonderful venues during the 2022 season," noted head coach Andrew Fuller on Stanford's robust away schedule. "From our season opener on the sands of Waikiki to our conference opponents USC and Arizona, as well as making our way to TCU for non-conference play, we are excited to travel the country and show the nation what Stanford Beach Volleyball represents."

Stanford then returns to the Lower 48 to compete in four matches in Los Angeles, Calif, meeting Cal Poly, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, and USC over two days of play March 5-6.

After a short two-week break, the Cardinal return to action at UC Davis on March 21 and then take a short trip to Tempe, Ariz. to meet conference foes Arizona State and Washington for two matches on March 24.

To wrap up their five-week road trip, Stanford travels to Tucson, Ariz. to participate in the Pac-12 South Beach Invitational, going toe-to-toe with league rivals in Oregon, UCLA, Utah, and Arizona State, with all matches slated to be broadcast on Pac-12 Mountain.

The Cardinal then spend two weeks hosting events in one of collegiate beach volleyball's most elite venues, first hosting Long Beach State, Cal Poly, Saint Mary's (California), and UC Davis on The Farm for the Stanford Invitational, April 2-3.

The next weekend, Stanford hosts the Pac-12 North Beach Invitational, welcoming all eight conference participants to take part in a weekend of competition in Palo Alto from April 9-10.

"We are excited to be hosting the Pac-12 North event which will feature all Pac-12 schools playing at multiple facilities at Stanford," said Fuller of hosting the league's annual event.

All four of Stanford's matches throughout the North Invitational will be broadcast on Pac-12 Bay Area.

After a quick trip to TCU to participate in the Fort Worth, Texas-based mid-season invitational, the Cardinal returns to The Farm to host its second invitational and final tune-up of the regular season.  Stanford will compete in four matches scheduled for April 23-24, taking on Washington, California, Grand Canyon University, and Saint Mary's.

The Cardinal's postseason begins in Tucson May 5-7 at the Pac-12 Championship.

After the program's first appearance at the NCAA Championships in 2021, the program will look to return to Gulf Shores, Ala. for the 2022 NCAA Championships. The national championship tournament has recently expanded from an eight-team field to a sixteen-team tournament.
