Victory in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Cardinal recorded its first Pac-12 regular-season victory since 2019, topping Arizona and falling to Utah State and Oklahoma at the Arizona Quad Meet in McKale Center on Saturday. 

Fifth-year senior Kyla Bryant led the way once again for Stanford, scoring a 39.400 in the all-around competition and placing second overall. Freshman Brenna Neault held steady in just her second performance for the Cardinal, totaling a 39.225 in the all-around for the second straight week. 

Stanford kicked off the day on bars. The Cardinal captured a 49.000 in the first rotation of the day thanks to a 9.85 from Bryant and 9.80's from senior Grace Waguespack, Madison Brunette, and freshman Neault. 

The Cardinal saw its highest team score of the day in the second rotation, totaling a 49.075 on beam. Redshirt freshman Isabela Onyshko shined as a specialist once again for Stanford, capturing a 9.85 to open the Cardinal's efforts. Super senior Lauren Navarro also saw success on beam, recording a season-high 9.80 in the fourth spot of the rotation. For the second consecutive week, Neault received a score of 9.875 for her performance on the apparatus. 

To start the second half of the meet, Stanford hit the floor for its third rotation and earned a 48.850. The Cardinal was led off by Neault's career-best performance of 9.80 and followed with a career-best effort from fellow freshman Anapaula Gutierrez with her 9.85 performance. Bryant earned the team's lone 9.90 score of the day in the fifth spot. 

The meet in the Grand Canyon State ended on vault for Stanford. The rotation saw 9.75 scores from senior Madison Brunette and freshmen Neault and Gutierrez as well as a team-leading performance of 9.825 from Bryant.

The Cardinal continues its season on the road in a week, heading to Salt Lake City for a meeting with the Utah Utes on Jan. 29. The clash is set to start at 1 p.m.
