Josh White (left) and Dylan Beavers are garnering preseason All-America recognition heading into their junior seasons at Cal.

BERKELEY – National baseball publications Baseball America and D1Baseball recognized a pair of California student-athletes with preseason All-America honors on Monday, continuing the build up to Opening Day on Feb. 18.

Junior outfielder Dylan Beavers earned a spot on the Baseball America Preseason All-America second team and the D1Baseball Preseason All-America third team, while junior right-handed starting pitcher Josh White nabbed a spot on the D1Baseball Preseason All-America second team.

Beavers has now been named a 2022 preseason All-American by four different organizations, also including Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and Perfect Game. White's inclusion on the D1Baseball second team is his first preseason All-America recognition.

The two Golden Bears are expected to anchor Cal's lineup and pitching staff, respectively, in the upcoming season. Both played for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team last summer following impressive performances in their first full collegiate seasons in 2021.

Beavers established himself as one of the nation's top young outfielders in 2021, leading the Pac-12 in home runs (18) while slashing .303/.401/.630 in 55 games played and started. He also led Cal in runs (44), doubles (11), triples (2), RBI (49), total bases (133) and walks (32) while swiping 10 bases. The Paso Robles, California native earned spots on the NCBWA All-America third team, the ABCA All-West Region first team, Baseball America's Freshman All-America second team and the All-Pac-12 first team.

White was one of the Pac-12's most productive arms throughout 2021. Along with posting the conference's second-lowest ERA (2.79), White struck out 81 batters in 61.1 innings pitched and owned a 5-3 record on the mound. White made 11 relief appearances in both long relief and as the closer before making a seamless transition to the front of the weekend rotation during conference play. The Danville, California, native boasted a 1.95 ERA and 5.67 strikeout-to-walk ratio (51 strikeouts, nine walks) in 37.0 innings pitched as a reliever. He was named a freshman All-American by the NCBWA and was an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention last season.
