Musselman, Renner Sweep MPSF Weekly Honors

Maddie Musselman and Molly Renner have been named the MPSF/KAP7 Player and Newcomer of the Week, respectively.

LOS ANGELES -- The MPSF announced on Tuesday that a pair of Bruins have swept the weekly awards. Redshirt senior Maddie Musselman (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar HS) was named the MPSF/KAP7 Player of the Week and freshman Molly Renner (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach HS) was named the MPSF/KAP7 Newcomer of the Week.

Musselman fired in an MPSF season-high six goals at No. 6 Michigan, as the No. 3 Bruins went 4-0 at the Michigan Invitational (Jan. 29-30). Musselman's nine weekend goals gave her a career total of 206, becoming the 46th player in MPSF history to reach 200. She also shared the MPSF season-high of five assists in the conference win over No. 10 Indiana. She accumulated nine goals, six assists, six steals, three drawn exclusions, and three field blocks, and was 5-0 in sprints through the tournament.

This is the 12th career MPSF weekly award for Musselman, including a repeat from last week.

Renner helped the Bruins go 4-0 at the Michigan Invitational, as she scored in each game to finish with 12 points (second on the team) on seven goals and five assists. Renner scored one goal and added one steal and one drawn exclusion in the MPSF win over No. 10 Indiana. She scored twice and tallied four assists with one field block in the win over Salem. She contributed two goals, two steals, one assist and drew one exclusion in the win over LIU. Renner ended the weekend with two more goals and one drawn exclusion in the win at No. 6 Michigan.

This is the first career MPSF award for Renner.
