Capalbo named Pac-12 Tennis Player of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO – Utah men's tennis player, Franco Capalbo, has been named the Pac-12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the Pac-12 conference office announced Wednesday. 
 
Capalbo continued his successful spring season this past weekend as he went 4-0 on the week and helped the Utes improve to 6-0. 
 
Utah and Capalbo started the week with a win over UC Santa Barbara. After winning in doubles, 6-3, with his doubles partner, Geronimo Espin Busleiman, Capalbo went to work in singles. Playing Phillip Jordan in No. 1 singles, Capablo came away with a 6-3, 6-2 victory to clinch the win for the Utes. 
 
The next day, Capalbo came up with his second win of the weekend in doubles. He and Espin Busleiman won 6-4, in No. 2 doubles. In singles, the match would be tied 3-3 with only Capalbo, and Rana-Roop Bhullar left. Capalbo won 7-6 (4), 6-4, clinching the match for the Utes. 
 
On the season, Capalbo holds a 6-0 record in doubles and a 6-0 mark in singles. 
 
UP NEXT 
Utah returns home to face Loyola Marymount on Friday, Feb. 4. The first serve will be at 1 p.m. MT from the George S. Eccles Tennis Center.
