Jalen Celestine drives to the hoop for two of his eight points in Thursday's loss to Washington.

BERKELEY – The Cal men's basketball dropped a Pac-12 contest to Washington, 84-63, on Thursday night at Haas Pavilion.

Freshman Obinna Anyanwu scored a career-high 10 points in 12 minutes played while Makale Foreman and Jalen Celestine added eight points apiece. Grant Anticevich tallied seven points and six rebounds. The Golden Bears (9-14, 2-10 Pac-12) lost their ninth straight game while Washington improved to 12-8 overall and 7-3 in conference play with their third consecutive victory.

The Huskies' red-hot shooting behind the arc made the difference, as they shot 52 percent (12-23) on 3-point shots while Cal went just 5-22.

After a mid-range jumper by Grant Anticevich opened the contest, Washington reeled off the next 10 points to take the lead and didn't relinquish it. The Huskies grew their lead as high as 14 in the opening stanza before Cal cut into that just before halftime as it went on a 7-2 run over the final 2:11 of the half. That run was capped by Sam Alajiki's 3-pointer from the corner as time expired to make it a halftime deficit of 38-29.

Cal was without senior forward Andre Kelly (ankle) for the second straight game.
