GymDawgs Post 196.250 To Beat Arizona

Feb 6, 2022

SEATTLE, Wash.—The Washington women's gymnastics team was able to put all four events together and post a season-high score of 196.250 to beat Arizona. The Huskies (2-3) showcased not only their consistency, but some of their full potential in the dual meet against the Wildcats.

"This is something that has been coming for a long time," said Head Coach Jen Llewellyn. "We really put four events together and the scores showed. It is something we have been talking about and expecting so it was nice for it to all come together."

Washington came out strong on vault, with Amara Cunningham and Geneva Thompson both posting a 9.875 to win the event.

On bars, Brenna Brooks was crowned the event winner with a 9.850.

"I got really good quality numbers during practice this week," said Brooks. "I was really working on the details and not being afraid of executing those details."

It was another strong effort from the Beam Dawgs, with four athletes posting over a 9.800. Among those competitors was Kennedi Davis who scored a 9.850 going up against her former institution.

"It was a little nerve racking," said Davis. "I wanted to show them that I am still doing well and I wanted to see them do well. It was really enjoyable."

To round-out the meet, on floor the freshman GymDawgs showed maturity and readiness to step up and compete. Ashley Blum and Lana Navarro were the event winners with scores of 9.875.

The all-around winner was Skylar Killough-Wilhelm who posted a score of 39.250 to help propel the Dawgs to the win.

Next, the GymDawgs take on Oregon State in Corvallis on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 12 p.m. PT.

"We need to take this and use the momentum to go forward to Oregon State," said Llewellyn.
