Men’s Tennis to Host Gonzaga, Boise State, and Nevada

FIRST SERVE
The Utah men's tennis team continues their homestand after two successful matches last weekend. On Saturday, the Utes will face the Gonzaga Bulldogs and the Boise State Broncos, and the Nevada Wolfpack on Sunday in a doubleheader.

MATCH DAY PROMOTION
The first 50 people in attendance to the Boise State match at 12 p.m. MT on Sunday, will receive free pizza.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE UTES
The Utes came out of last weekend's matches unscathed, holding their 8-0 record high after victories against the LMU Lions and the Texas Tech Raiders. The Utes also continue their doubles point streak, tallying up wins against talented opponents. Utah defeated LMU, 6-1, before wearing a 4-0 win over Texas Tech.

SCOUTING GONZAGA
The Gonzaga Bulldogs have a 4-0 record coming into the match against the Utes. With both teams being undefeated. The Bulldogs will face Utah State on Friday morning before facing the Utes on Saturday morning. Gonzaga has wins over Seattle (4-0), Nevada (4-0), Montana State (4-0), and New Mexico (5-2). Gonzaga dropped the doubles point before bouncing back to win five of the six singles matches in the win over New Mexico.  
 
SCOUTING BOISE STATE
The Boise State Broncos hold a 4-4 record this season. The Broncos will face BYU before coming to Salt Lake City to face the Utes. They are coming off a weekend, where they defeated Seattle, 4-0, and North Dakota, 4-1. Leading the way for the Broncos is James Van Herzeele, who has four wins this spring. This spring, Boise State is 20-23 in singles matches and 8-11 in doubles play.
 
SCOUTING NEVADA
The Nevada Wolfpack have a 7-1 record and have been the only team that has played as many matches as the Utes at this point in the season. The Wolfpack head to Pocatello, Idaho, to face Idaho State and Linfield on Friday before coming to Utah. Satchel Benn comes into the weekend with five victories on the season. He has picked up three wins at No. 4 singles and two at No. 6 singles. Nevada is currently on a four-match winning streak.
 
HOME SWEET HOME
Since the beginning of the 2015 season, the Utes have dominated home play and hold an 80-20 (.796) record at the Eccles Tennis Center. Utah holds a 41-7 (.847) record in Salt Lake City in the past four seasons. Last season, the Utes went 13-3 at home, the most since in a single season since 2015. Utah is 4-0 at home this season. 
 
UP NEXT 
In another doubleheader, the Utes will continue playing at home next weekend when they face Drake and Montana State next Sunday, Feb. 20.
