Beavers Set For Tuesday Tilt With Buffs

THE GAME: Oregon State continues its home slate with a 6 p.m. tilt on Tuesday against the Colorado Buffaloes at Gill Coliseum.

QUICKLY: Oregon State was originally scheduled to play Colorado on Jan. 1 but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the Buffaloes' program ... Jarod Lucas has a career free throw percentage of 88.4% (199-for-225), the best in Oregon State history; Chris Stephens (2003-06) is second at 86.2% (224-for-260 ... Glenn Taylor Jr. has started the last three games and is averaging 11.3 points and 3.7 rebounds; he averaged 4.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in the first 19 games coming off the bench ... Dexter Akanno has gone 13-for-31 (41.9%) from beyond the arc over the last 10 games; he was 4-for-20 (20.0%) from deep in the first 12 games ... Dashawn Davis is first in the Pac-12 in assists at 5.37 per game; the last Oregon State player to lead the conference in assists was Gary Payton in 1989-90 (8.1 per game) ... Ahmad Rand has gone 2-for-3 from beyond the arc over the last two games ... Xzavier Malone-Key (back) has missed the last five games and Isaiah Johnson (concussion) has missed the last four games.
 
vs. COLORADO: Oregon State and Colorado are meeting for the 30th time with the Buffaloes holding a 19-10 advantage. The Beavers have a 6-5 edge in games played in Corvallis.
 
Colorado won the first meeting this season, 86-63, on Feb. 5 at the CU Events Center in Boulder. Glenn Taylor Jr. scored a career-high 15 points in his first career start for Oregon State. Keeshawn Barthelemy led the Buffs with 16 points.
 
LAST SEASON: The 2020-21 season was highlighted by one of the greatest runs in program history:

  • Won nine straight road and neutral-site games that included the first Pac-12 Conference Tournament championship in program history.
  • Won an NCAA Tournament game and advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1982.
  • Won three games in the NCAA Tournament, tying the 1963 Final Four team for the most tournament wins in program history.
  • Ranked No. 20 in the final coaches poll; it's the first time the Beavers have been ranked in any poll since March 13, 1990.
  • Defeated five Top 25 teams, the most in a season since the 1975-76 team also won five against ranked opponents.
  • Beat a Top 25 team on the road for the first time since 1985 (at No. 21 Oregon).
  • Defeated four Top 25 teams at a neutral site; the last time Oregon State beat a ranked opponent at a neutral site came in 1992 (vs. No. 25 BYU in Portland).
