Statement on Sun Devil WBB’s canceled game at Cal

Feb 16, 2022

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Pac-12 Conference announced the Sun Devil women's basketball team's makeup game at Cal, originally scheduled to be played today (Wed., Feb. 16) before being canceled last night, has been declared a forfeit for the Sun Devils in the conference standings.

ASU's flight to Oakland on Tuesday was aborted due to mechanical issues with its aircraft. While other alternatives were explored to travel to the Bay Area and play the game, none were deemed to be in the best interest of the health and welfare of the student-athletes.

The Sun Devils (now 12-9, 4-5 Pac-12) return to action on Friday (7 p.m. PST/8 p.m. MST/Pac-12 Washington/KDUS AM 1060) when they play at Washington State. ASU will then travel to Seattle to face Washington on Sunday (12 p.m. PST/1 p.m. MST/Pac-12 Arizona/KDUS AM 1060).
