Sabally Earns Academic All-District Honors

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon redshirt junior forward Nyara Sabally was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 team Thursday in recognition of her achievements on the court and in the classroom.
 
Sabally currently ranks fifth in the conference in scoring, averaging 15.8 PPG while sitting in fifth with a field goal percentage of 53.7. She is putting up 16.0 PPG and grabbing 7.5 rebounds per game in conference play and has four double-doubles on the season, including two in each of the last three games.
 
The Berlin, Germany native will receive her degree in Journalism – Advertising following the conclusion of the winter quarter in March.
 
A 2021 All Pac-12 selection, Sabally was named to the top 10 watch list for the Katrina McClain Award, which honors the nation's top power forward. She has reached double figures in scoring in 14 of 17 games played and leads the team with five 20-point games despite missing eight contests due to injury.
 
Earlier this year, Sabally earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors after scoring a career-high 30 points while grabbing 11 rebounds in a win over Oklahoma at the Battle 4 Atlantis. She also averaged 19.0 PPG and shot 65.6 percent from the field in a five-game stretch from Jan. 21-Feb. 4, scoring at least 15 points in each of those.
