Buffs Win Their Second Straight Over Portland State

PORTLAND – Colorado women's tennis won its second match of the season over Portland State Friday afternoon after defeating Portland State here 4-3.
 
The Buffaloes (2-3) dropped the doubles point to start the match but bounced back in singles play winning four out of six over Portland State (4-4).
 
Antonia Balzert picked up the first win 6-1, 6-2 in the No.2 singles match to tie it up one point all. Betina Tokac took the win in the No.4 singles match 6-1, 6-0 to take the lead. Freshman Mila Stanojevic set up match point for Colorado as she won 6-0, 6-4 in the No.3 singles match. The win is Stanojevic's 13th win in a row.
 
After taking the lead, things got tight after Caroline Pozo fell 7-5, 6-3 in the No.1 singles match while Ellen Puzak lost 6-3, 6-4 in the No.6 spot to tie things up.
 
The final match fell on Ky Ecton, who secured the Buffaloes victory with a gritty win in three sets. After dropping the first set 7-5, Ecton rallied back and dominated the next two sets 6-0, 6-1.
 
The Buffaloes will take on the University of Portland (2-2) tomorrow.
