No. 10 Women of Troy Fall to No. 22 Oklahoma State 4-1

 
The No. 10 ranked USC Women's Tennis team suffered a 4-1 loss to No. 22 Oklahoma State on Saturday (Feb. 19) in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The Cowgirls struck early with Rioux/Miyamoto downing USC's No. 5 Ewing/Han 6-2 on doubles two. Trojans Morra/Willson answered, defeating Orpana/Detkovskaya (OSU) 6-3 on doubles three. The Cowgirls would eventually take court one in a 7-6(2) decision as Sawangkaew/Zerulo (OSU) defeated #40 Cayetano/ Piper (USC) to claim the doubles point.

With a 1-0 advantage moving into singles play, OSU kept the momentum going as Ooana Orpana beat Trojan Sloane Morra 6-0, 6-1 on court four to further extend the Cowgirl's lead.

USC's first point of the day came from freshman Grace Piper on court five. Piper defeated Miyamoto 6-3, 6-1 to make the score 2-1 OSU.

Oklahoma State extended their lead as Lisa Marie Rioux beat No. 1 Eryn Cayetano 6-0, 6-3 on the center court to put OSU up 3-1. That left things up to Cowgirl No. 30 Sawangkaew who edged out No. 18 Salma Ewing 6-4, 6-2 to secure the OSU win and suspend action on courts three and six.

Tomorrow, the Trojans (6-3) have an opportunity to bounce back as they'll take on No. 2 Oklahoma (11-1) at 10 a.m. PT.
