No. 6 Washington Run-Rules No. 18 Tennessee, Defeats No. 20 LSU

CLEARWATER, Florida – No. 6 Washington took down back-to-back ranked opponents Friday in Clearwater, Florida, defeating No. 18 Tennessee 11-0 (5) and No. 20 LSU 9-4.
 
The Dawgs came out swinging in game one against the Volunteers. Senior Baylee Klingler got things going with a right field home run in her first at-bat. Sarah Willis and Sami Reynolds followed suit with solo-shots in the second and third innings, respectively. Four home runs (two from Klingler) is the most home runs in a single game this year for the Dawgs. Gabbie Plain earned the win and extended her shutout streak to 18 innings.
 
Against LSU, scoring was isolated in the second and fourth innings. Kelley Lynch earned the win, pitching 3.2 innings and collecting four strikeouts. Lynch, Brooke Nelson, Sarah Willis and Pat Moore all saw time in the circle.
 
TENNESSEE SCORING
1st: Baylee Klingler homered to right field.
2nd: Sarah Willis homered to right field.
 
3rd: Sami Reynolds homered to right field.
3rd: Willis singled to left field driving in Olivia Johnson.
 
4th: Reynolds singled scoring Jadelyn Allchin (unearned) and Rylee Holtorf.
4th: Madi Huskey reached on an error and advanced to third (RBI). Klinger and Reynolds scored.
4th: Kinsey Fiedler reached on an error (RBI). Huskey scored on the error (unearned).
 
5th: Klingler homered to right field, driving in leadoff Reynolds.
 
TENNESSEE NOTES
Baylee Klingler hit a home run for the second straight game (had a grand slam in last week's win over then-No. 8 Arkansas). The senior also collected three runs and three RBI. Her last outing with two home runs in a single game was 2/12/21 vs. Dixie State. This is Klingler's third multi-HR game as a Husky.
 
Four home runs is the most home runs for the Dawgs in a single game this season.
 
The win was the third shutout of the year for Washington, each accomplished with Gabbie Plain in the circle. Plain has pitched 18 straight innings of scoreless play. She collected three strikeouts against Tennessee.
 
Sami Reynolds went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI and one home run. She's had a hit in every game this season and is on a nine-game hitting streak (dating back to the NCAA Regionals last year against Michigan). She did not double against the Volunteers, ending her five-game double streak.
 
The last time the Dawgs recorded four home runs in one game was 3/28/21 at Arizona State. They also recorded four HR's in the game the day before at Arizona State. The most home runs in a single game last year was six, the program record for home runs in a game is nine.

LSU NOTES
 
Sami Reynolds extended her hitting streak to ten consecutive games. She doubled for the sixth time in the season's seven games. She hit a home run for the second straight game.
 
Baylee Klinger homered, and has hit one deep in each of the last three games. Against then-No. 8 Arkansas, she hit her first career grand slam. Against No. 18 Tennessee, the senior hit two homers and collected three RBI.
 
Madi Huskey hit her first triple of the season and of her career.
 
For the year, Washington is outscoring ranked opponents 38 – 9, and the aggregate score of the first seven games is 67 – 14.
