Triumph Over Texas A&M

SEATTLE – Playing its second consecutive 4-3 match at the ITA Indoor National Championships, No. 8 Stanford men's tennis outlasted No. 12 Texas A&M on Saturday at Seattle Tennis Club. The Cardinal improves to 8-1 this season with five victories over ranked opponents.

The Cardinal clipped the Aggies early in doubles with wins on the top two courts. Arthur Fery and Axel Geller picked up their first win together, 6-3, while Alexandre Rotsaert and Max Basing were close behind at 6-4 to secure the opening point.

Fery, ranked No. 1 nationally, continued his hot start to the season at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win, but Texas A&M won three of the first four singles bouts to take a 3-2 lead in the contest. Geller responded to tie the match in three sets on court two, while Max Basing, who won a tight first set tiebreaker 11-9, clinched his second match of the season with a 6-3 second set.

The Cardinal closes the action in Seattle on Sunday at noon against the winner of No. 10 USC and No. 15 Ole Miss.
