Challenges Await Ducks at Mary Nutter Classic

Feb 23, 2022

THIS WEEK
Oregon will face its first two ranked opponents of the season, No. 18 Northwestern and No. 16 Missouri, on the first day of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. The Ducks will also face West Coast foes Seattle U., Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State. This will renew many rivalries that took a pause during the Covid-19 pandemic. This will be the first meetings with Fullerton and Missouri since 2019. Oregon last faced Long Beach, Northwestern and Seattle U. in 2020.

2-OUT LIGHTNING
Nearly half of Oregon's runs (31-of-67) have been scored with two outs. The Ducks have also outscored the opposition in two-out runs 31-to-9.

CLOSING TIME
The Ducks have outscored the opposition 32-11 in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

A NOD TO THE DEFENSE
One of the better defensive teams in 2021, Oregon ranked third in the Pac-12 and 15th nationally in fielding percentage (.977). After two weeks of play, the Ducks are fielding the ball at a .991 clip which leads the Pac-12 and ranks eighth nationally.

BUNKER BLASTS, KK DOUBLES
Allee Bunker hit .467 with a home run and five RBI last week against Texas State and Baylor. KK Humphreys banged out three doubles in Texas with a .333 average and three RBI.
