Feb 27, 2022

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — Oregon State (12-3) swept through the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic this weekend, including Sunday's 2-0 victory over UC San Diego. With today's result, the Beavers are now riding a nine-game winning streak.

The day was highlighted by Tarni Stepto's complete-game performance in the circle during Sunday's finale. The Aussie struck out five and allowed just four Triton hits to the 25 batters she faced, earning her fourth win of her early Beaver career.

The Beaver offense continued its blazing start to 2022, hitting seven home runs, eight doubles and a triple across their five games this past weekend. Mariah Mazon and Madison Simon each went yard twice while Lici Campbell, Frankie Hammoude and Charity Sevaaetasi blasted one for the Orange & Black.

Oregon State scattered six hits on the day and did damage in the third and sixth innings to help seal the win. Sevaaetasi broke through as the leadoff in the third with a single through the left side and advanced to third with a pair of Beaver ground outs. Freshman Eliana Gottlieb ripped an RBI single, driving home Sevaaetasi.

Hammoude continued her stellar start to the season, connecting on her seventh home run of the season in the sixth. Other hits from OSU include a double from Mazon and a Kaylah Nelson single.
