Jackson Rivera, Shane Ffrench Lead USC Men’s Golf in Southern Highlands Collegiate Opener

Freshman Jackson Rivera and sophomore Shane Ffrench turned in first rounds with a 1-under 72 to lead the Trojan men's golf team during the opening round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Sunday (Feb. 27) in Las Vegas.

The Trojans combined for a 288 to finish even par in their first 18 holes in Vegas. Oklahoma leads the tournament at 20-under while Pepperdine is second at 15 under.  

Rivera and French are tied for 35th at 1-under. Rivera turned in three birdies today and finished the final five holes at par. Ffrench, like Rivera, came in at 1-under thanks in large part to birdies on six holes, including three in the back nine.  

USC's Alex Ross finished even par, tied for 51st. Two birdies in the back nine and one on his final hole put him at 72.

Sophomore Krando Nishiba carded a 2-over 72 and is tied for 63rd.

Trojan freshman Gavin Aurilla is tied for 78th at 5-over.

USC begins the second round of the three-day, 54-hole event tomorrow at 10:20 a.m. PT.
