Men's Swim Sets New School Record on Opening Night of Pac-12 Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash.- The Utah men's swimming team opened the 2022 Pac-12 Swimming Championships in record breaking fashion as the team of Andrei Ungur, Jaek Horner, Cooper deRyk and Finn O'Haimhirgin set a new school record in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:23.87.

The squad topped the previous record of 1:24.15, which was set last year at the NCAA Championships.

In the final event of the evening, Marko Kovacic, Ben Waterman, Noah Carlson and O'Haimhirgin represented the Utes in the 800 free relay finishing sixth in a season-best time of 6:26.63.

Through the first two events, the men currently sit in second with 183 points and are behind Stanford with 207 points. 

Utah will continue the conference championships tomorrow beginning with the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free preliminaries at 12:00 pm MT. The finals will take place at 7:00pm MT and can be seen on Pac-12.com or the Pac-12 Now app.
