Mar 3, 2022

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Volleyball has added standout libero Iliana Linahan to this year's signing class, head coach Beth Launiere announced Thursday morning. Linahan joins KJ Burgess and Viktoria Walgren, who have enrolled early and are currently on campus, along with Ashley West as a member of the incoming freshman class.

"We're so excited to have Iliana join our team," said Launiere of the newest Ute. "She is a tremendous libero/defensive specialist, and brings great energy and positivity with her to the position."

Linahan joins the team from Austin, Texas, where she attends Vandegrift High School and played club volleyball for Austin Performance and Roots Volleyball. She was a member of the varsity team the previous two seasons and helped lead the team two back-to-back district championships. The team also advanced to the regional finals of the 6A State Tournament during her senior season.

While playing club at Austin Performance, Linahan and her team were the 2019 national champions in the 15U national tournament in Indianapolis, Ind. After the switch to Roots Volleyball for the past three years, she was the libero for her club team that won the Countdown Classic two years in a row (2020-21).

Linahan has been on the honor roll all four years while in high school and was an Academic All-District and All-Area for volleyball. She was also a member of the National Honors Society for two years. The daughter of Martha and Tom Linahan also played sand volleyball at Texas Volleyball Tour (TVT). She has a younger brother, Dylan.
