Mar 7, 2022

CORVALLIS, Ore. – No. 23 Oregon State (19-3) collected two victories, extending its winning streak to 16, in its home-opening doubleheader on Monday against Robert Morris. The Beavers run-ruled the Colonials 8-0 in six innings before turning around to take the second game 3-0 in front of Beaver Nation at Kelly Field.

After Monday's sweep, the Beavers have not allowed a run in eight of their last ten games and have given up just two runs during that stretch.

Oregon State's pitching staff of Mariah Mazon, Sarah Haendiges and Tarni Stepto combined to throw no-hitters during the two games. Mazon and Haendiges collectively threw the no-hitter in the first game while Stepto delivered her first no-no performance in the finale.

In the first game eight Beavers registered a hit, led by Charity Sevaaetasi's (2-for-3) and Grace Messmer's (2-for-3) performances. Eliana Gottlieb and Madison Simon blasted home runs, including Simon's game-ending solo shot in the bottom of the sixth.

Six Beavers brought in at least one run, including a game-high four in the fourth inning. Mazon earned her eighth win of the season after tossing 5.0 innings, delivering eight strikeouts against 16 batters. Haendiges finished the game in the sixth frame, notching two strikeouts.

Oregon State turned around in the second game and picked up right where it left off. Stepto tossed a career-high 15 strikeouts, just one shy of tying the program record.

Three different Beavers record a hit in the contest while Kiki Escobar earned a team-high two RBIs that occurred in the fifth inning off a single to center field.

Stepto's complete game was her seventh win of the season after facing 25 batters and allowed just one walk.

On the season, OSU is outscoring opponents 144-25 and have hit 29 home runs on the year.
