Bats on Fire in Wins Against Northern Colorado and Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – No. 7 Washington put on an offensive clinic today in Fort Collins, Colorado, run-ruling Northern Colorado 15-2 (5) and then taking down host Colorado State 6-3. In total, the Dawgs scored 21 runs off nine home runs and collected 19 extra-base hits.
 
The bats were on fire in the first game of the day against Northern Colorado. In total, the Dawgs hit seven home runs to defeat the Bears 15-2 (5). Baylee Klingler knocked three long balls – tying the Husky single-game record for most home runs in a single contest. Madi Huskey also had a homer and has had a hit in six of the last seven games. Kinsey Fiedler hit a home run for the second consecutive game. Angie Yellen is on a four-game hit streak and homered in the top of the fifth. Brooke Nelson went 2-for-2 as a pinch hitter, including hitting her first career home run. Kelley Lynch earned the win in the circle, pitching four innings and allowing only one hit while collecting a season-high six strikeouts.
 
In the second game of the day, Rylee Holtorf and Sami Reynolds extended the homer count, hitting home runs in back-to-back at-bats. Gabbie Plain worked her magic in the circle, striking out a season-high 14 batters. This is her third game this season with 10+ K's, and her 33rd 10+ K career game. Plain moves to 9-2 on the year.

1st: Kinsey Fiedler tripled to right center (2 RBI).
 
2nd: Klingler homered to left center, again scoring Reynolds.

2nd: With a runner on third, Northern Colorado scored on a single.
 
3rd: Fiedler homered down the left-field line.
 
4th: Huskey doubled and scored Klingler, who doubled in the previous at-bat.
4th: Angie Yellen doubled (the third straight double of the Husky plate appearances) and scored Huskey.
4th: Brooke Nelson, on as a pinch hitter, singled to score Yellen.
 
5th: Klingler hit her record-tying third home run of the day (2 RBI).
5th: Yellen homered to right-center.
5th: In the next at-bat, Nelson hit her first career home run to left field.
 
5th: A Bear doubled down the right-field line, sending one runner home.
 
NORTHERN COLORADO NOTES
 
Baylee Klingler tied the Husky single-game record for most home runs in a single contest. Taylor Smith in 2011 and Kristen Rivera in 2003 are the other two Huskies who have also hit three home runs in a single game. This is her third multi-home run game of the year. The senior is on a seven-game hit streak and a three-game extra-base hit streak.
 
Washington hit a season-high seven home runs to record a season-high 15 runs. The Washington record for most home runs in a game is nine (vs UCR in 2011).
 
Madi Huskey has recorded a hit in six of the last seven games. She hit her sixth home run of the season against the Bears. Six home runs is the most home runs she's hit in a single season while at Washington.
 
Angie Yellen is on a four-game hit streak. She hit her first career double, going 3-for-3 with two RBI, two doubles and a home run.
 
Kinsey Fiedler is on a three-game hit streak and a two-game home run streak. She recorded her first career triple against Northern Colorado. Her three RBI are the most she's had in a single game this year.
 
Brooke Nelson went 2-for-2 with two RBI and her first career home run.
 
Kelley Lynch pitched four innings and allowed a season-low one hit. Her six strikeouts is a season-high.
