Schultz National Heavyweight Runner-up, ASU Claims Fourth

DETROIT - Another trophy is coming to Tempe! Sun Devil Wrestling finished fourth at the NCAA Wrestling Championships for the second time in head coach Zeke Jones' eight-year tenure. Cohlton Schultz was the national heavyweight runner-up, with Minnesota's Gable Steveson taking gold. Schultz claimed the Gorriaran Award too for his two pins in 2:17. Penn State claimed the national team title, followed by Michigan and Iowa.

Schultz - Gorriaran Award
This award goes to the wrestler with the most pins in the least amount of time and is presented by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
 
Cohlton Schultz pinned his first two opponents of the tournament. Zachary Knighton-Ward (Hofstra, 1:25) and Lewis Fernandes (Cornell, 0:52) fell in a combined 2:17. Schultz is one of four wrestlers with a pair of pins this tournament. Michael O'Malley (Drexel) was right behind Schultz with two pins in 6:19. ASU celebrated five of seven qualifiers earning All-American status. Jacori Teemer and Brandon Courtney led the pack, both collecting their third All-America nods. They're now one of 16 three-time All-Americans at ASU and the second and third wrestlers to achieve the feat under head coach Zeke Jones after Zahid Valencia.
