Academic Achievement Celebrated at Annual All As Reception
SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Athletics Department's annual All As Reception took place Monday evening in the Layton Field Club at the Ken Garff Red Zone at Rice-Eccles Stadium. A total of 203 student-athletes earned all As in either the Spring or Fall semester of 2021, and the event served as an opportunity to celebrate Utah's student-athletes for their academic success. A remarkable 35 students earned all As in both semesters and 16 earned a perfect 4.0 in both semesters.
All 20 of Utah's sports programs were represented. Director of Athletics Mark Harlan and University President Taylor Randall spoke to begin the program, and expressed their respect and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the students. Harlan lauded the focus and determination it takes for them to perform at their best in all endeavors, and highlighted the purpose of having an event to celebrate success.
"When you're in the middle of it, I don't think you realize it because you're so tunneled, so focused on what you're doing," Harlan told the student-athletes in attendance. "But give yourself a moment to pat yourself on the back. I just want to say how proud I am of you."
Senior Associate A.D. for Academic Services Chris Uchacz served as emcee for the event and introduced each attendee by team, along with coaches, to be recognized.
"Earning All As is certainly no easy task, and speaking for the entire athletics department, we are so proud of our student-athletes," Uchacz said. "The last two years have not been easy for the entire university, but our student-athletes have not missed a beat and they continue to excel, academically, at the highest level."
