ATLANTA – Utah Lacrosse faceoff specialist and midfielder Cole Brams earned ASUN Defensive Player of the Week today after his record-breaking performance in Utah's 23-9 win over Mercer on Saturday.

This is Brams' first-career defensive player of the week honor, giving Utah seven overall player of the week selections this season. Brams broke two school records in Utah's victory on Saturday, putting together a career-high performance that will go down in the record books.

The Portsmouth, N.H., native totaled a career-high 23 faceoff wins and a career-best 17 ground balls in the game against the Bears, setting single-game school records in both.

His 17 ground balls is tied for sixth nationally and is the most by a player in the ASUN this season while his 23 faceoff victories is tied for the most by an ASUN player in 2022 while ranking eighth in the country.

Through seven games this season, Brams ranks second in the ASUN and 24th in the nation in ground balls per game, averaging 6.43. He also ranks first in the league and in the top-30 nationally in faceoff win percentage (.545).
