Wildcats Complete First-Ever Sweep in Seattle

Apr 3, 2022

SEATTLE, Wash. — Outfielder Tanner O'Tremba delivered the game-winning hit and right-hander Trevor Long delivered three stellar innings of relief as the Arizona Wildcats (21-7, 9-3) outlasted the Washington Huskies (14-13, 5-7) in extra innings for a 7-6 win on Sunday afternoon.

The win locked down Arizona's first road sweep since 2019 and their first-ever sweep of Washington in Seattle.

O'Tremba smoked an RBI single through the left side of the infield in the top of the 11th inning to drive in the go-ahead run for Arizona after a three-run bottom of the eighth forced the Wildcats into extra innings. His game-winning hit was preceded by a Washington error to open the inning and a single from catcher Daniel Susac to move a runner into scoring position.

Long (1-0) was brilliant for the Wildcats, pitching the final three innings of the game — the ninth and both extra innings — and held the Huskies scoreless on just three hits. It was his 11th outing without an earned run this year and dropped his ERA to a miniscule 1.17.

Starting pitcher Anthony Susac worked three innings for the Wildcats and allowed just two runs (one earned) on four hits; he did not factor into the decision.
