Seniors Leading Women's Golf Through Day Two of Silverado Showdown

Apr 5, 2022

NAPA, Calif. - Sun Devil Women's Golf completed day two of the Silverado Showdown on Tuesday.

Arizona State remained in a tie for ninth place, lead by their two seniors Alessandra Fanali and Alexandra Forsterling. Fanali was excellent once again in shooting a 71 (-1), moving to four-under on the tournament. She sits in second place following the completion of round two, just three strokes back of overall leader Antonia Malate from San Jose State.

Alexandra Forsterling was also solid in the second round, carding a 72 (E) to drastically improve her positioning on the leaderboard. Forsterling moved up 18 spots between day one and day two and is now knocking on the door of another top ten finish, tied for 12th heading into the final day. Joining Forsterling in shaving significant strokes off her first round was Breyana Matthews, who was six shots better than yesterday competing as an individual. The entire field undergoes a shotgun start tomorrow at 8 AM MST, with Arizona State having one more opportunity to move up a crowded leaderboard.

FRONT NINE
Alessandra Fanali carried over her hot start from yesterday, producing a solid front nine effort. She finished at even to set herself up for a great run on the back nine. Alexandra Forsterling joined her in finishing the front nine even, as the two seniors managed to keep ASU in the Top-10 of the team race.

BACK NINE
The back nine proved to be even more lucrative for Fanali, who went under par to finish her round in second place. She recorded three of her five birdies down the stretch, maintaining momentum heading into tomorrow's round. Forsterling continued her steady play, matching her front nine effort with an even back nine. Amanda Linner managed to end on a high note, finishing playing under par over her last five holes.
